IMPACT Leadership Development Program

Custer Area Economic Development Corp. has joined forces with Hill City Economic Development Corp. to co-sponsor IMPACT Leadership Development Program. This program has been established to encourage and equip the present and future leaders of our communities. The mission will be accomplished through the following means:

Familiarization and awareness education in the various areas that make up our communities.
Local Education and Government organizations
Larger Community Employers
Non-Profits, Community Resources, and Arts Council
Community/Economic Development opportunities
Presentations on a variety of leadership topics
The opportunity to participate in a personal mentorship program
The opportunity to design and participate in a self-directed leadership project.

The goal is to get more people interested in the workings of our communities thereby encouraging and attracting new people to government, non-profit Boards and local businesses.

Our communities need good leaders now more than ever. We desire to encourage and train up a group of community leaders by immersing them in opportunities to learn about their communities and leadership.

The course will run for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Crazy Horse Memorial from October 6 to November 10. Each session will focus on a different theme ranging from local government to education to non-profits and larger employers. The program is project-oriented and will also include a mentoring component. As participants are enrolled and their interests are noted, we will try to pair participants with mentors to help them accomplish their goals. Time commitment would be worked out between mentors and mentees.

The cost of the course, including dinner during each session, is $300. Scholarships may be available.

A Champions event for stakeholders, including guest speakers, sponsors and mentors will be held on September 8 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Interested participants can attend an introductory/overview event on September 15 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Both of these preliminary events will also be held at Crazy Horse Memorial.
